we have a situation

We no longer want to work on the spectacle of the end of the world,
but on the end of the world of the spectacle.

Guy Debord

Architectural compositions depopulated by Titus Schade as urban scenery, four contributions will bring to life the depicted alleys, courtyards, and squares. An evening aimed at making the walls of the Konschthal resonate, vibrate, and perspire.

Four interventions will thus inhabit and invite drifting through these pictorial landscapes:

  • Urban psychoanalysis with ANPU (Agence Nationale de Psychanalyse Urbaine)
  • Local contemporary vernacular with WAA? (WAA - What is Architecture?)
  • Sound accompaniment by MAGNIDT
  • Immersive performance by GOFAI

Yeah, the big takeover yeah
My, big takeover yeah, yeah

The evening program

6:00 PM – 12:00 AM: Sound accompaniment by MAGNIDT

Immersing in East German atmospheres of the '80s, MAGNIDT will compose the specific proto-electronic soundtrack for a journey into the dark depths of austere landscapes. The sonic reflection of the tension and agitation of a bygone era. A fusion of sound and visual art, where electronics meet the enigmatic.

6:00 PM – 12:00 AM: Installation: Local contemporary vernacular with WAA? (WAA – Wat ass Architektur?)

Julie Marthe Hoffmann and Boris Loder document traces of Luxembourgish vernacular through various media. Vernacular refers to the styles and construction techniques traditional to a particular region or culture. It is often opposed to more formal, academic, or high-level architecture and is usually created using locally available materials and construction methods. It often reflects the values, beliefs, and lifestyles of the people who create it and can vary significantly from one place to another.

7:00 PM – 8:30 PM: Divan Operation by ANPU (Agence Nationale de Psychanalyse Urbaine)

Urban psychoanalysis can be considered a kind of poetic science of a new genre whose investigative method essentially consists of highlighting the unconscious at the origin of urban planning in a city or territory. Urban psychoanalysis involves putting cities on the couch, detecting urban neuroses, and proposing appropriate therapeutic solutions.

ANPU is invited to share its view of cities and to implement a collective action to try to reveal some unconscious characteristics of their territory. The Divan Operations are primarily intended to better understand the personality of the city through the words of its inhabitants. ANPU installs couches at strategic points in the Konschthal and invites guests to answer questionnaires drawing a "Chinese portrait" of Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg. ANPU: Jean-Maxime Santuré, alias John Maximus, crypto-landscape architect, Charles Altorffer, enchanting urban planner, Fabienne Quéméneur, Super vision

A Divan operation will take place on pre-Takeover Thursday at the Mercure Center (2-6 Place am Boltgen Esch-sur-Alzette) from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

8:30 PM – 9:00 PM: Presentation of the WAA? Project by Julie Marthe Hoffmann

9:30 PM – 10:00 PM: Unguided tour, from Esch to Berlin passing through urbanity

John-Maximus, crypto-landscape architect within ANPU, attempts in 30 minutes to guide the present people through the territorial unconscious of Esch-sur-Alzette while revealing in the exhibited artist's works the universal laws of urbanity, considered by all city planners as the urban grail.

10:00 PM – 10:30 PM: Performance by GOFAI

GOFAI transforms the spectator into an actor by working on the entire body, between otorhinolaryngology and neurology. Frequencies and decibels will align with the pure energy of moving bodies for an ephemeral experience of the collision between raw energy and dark imagery. Amid dimly lit galleries, drums and raging guitars bring dark paintings to life. A visceral encounter where music becomes the catalyst for visual resurrection.
